Conceived, programmed, and launched the first algorithmically generated on-chain art on Cardano. 31,119 NFTs curated from 50M+ parameter combinations, generating ~$1.6M in revenue.

The Challenge

NFTs are often criticized as mere links to images hosted on centralized servers. The question was: what could an NFT be if it were truly native to the blockchain? Not just stored on it, but generated by code embedded within it.

The Approach

Wrote Python algorithms that generate images from combinations of color parameters, producing over 50 million possible outputs. Curated a set of 31,119 (0.06% of the possibility space) and minted them on Cardano with the generating code stored directly in NFT metadata. This made unsigned_algorithms the first Cardano NFT collection to live entirely on-chain: the art is the code itself, independent of any external servers.

The Results

Sold out all 31,119 NFTs generating approximately $1.6M USD. Presented at a Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto panel on NFT as a medium. Inspired 27+ artists working in the Cardano on-chain art space. Recognized as the vanguard of blockchain-native generative art on Cardano.
